Internatioanl kite festival to be held in ahmedabad on 10-11-12th of january
Kite is a mode of recreation and also used to work as messenger in past when other modes of communication were not available .It is a rectangular shaped (mostly) with kaman ( a bow shaped stick and dhaddha ( a straight stick which are fixed on a paper or cloth in shape of arrow placed in a bow ,only difference is that in bow and arrow both are free ,but in kite they are fixed and arrow is placed below the bow.
The point where both bow and arrow meet at this verge two holes are made and a thread is attached to that place .Another two holes are made and the end of stick( bow) both are tied and the long string is attached with the converging point of both the threads from where you can fly kite in the air when there is sufficient air.

India is observing every year 14th of january as kite flying day and is known as uttarayan.Uttrayan is the name given to this day because it is this day from where the sun starts moving towards the uttar or north and so"it means sun moving towards the north".
